Entrepreneur Success Principles

We all like to be successful. No matter whether its sports, work, business or something else, we all want to be as successful as possible.

The factors that contribute toward success aren’t secret, they are well known and understood. Here are just 7 that apply to most successful entrepreneurs, sports personalities and celebrities.

1. Do what you love doing. This is obvious really. If you love what you are doing then its not a chore, its a pleasure. The real trick, if there is one, is to identify what ‘floats your boat’ and then keep doing it. For me the goal was to become a freelance web designer but I’ve worked with others for whome internet marketing was what really motivated them.
2. Be patient and disciplined. Most really successful people have the ability to see the ‘bigger picture’. And discipline is needed to keep going in the face of adversity and stick to your plan with your long term goals in minde.
3. Define your goals. Maybe one day you want to start your own business which would be an excellent goal. Defining this will enable you to plot a course that will lead to your achieving this aim.
4. Feal the fear but dot it anyway. Fear of failure, or something else (e.g. ridicule, expense, pain, embarassment) will often cause procrastination. Rather than risk failing we’d rather avoid doing what we need to do. This inclination needs to be overcome.
5. Don’t procrastinate. Procrastination is often prompted by taxing or unpleasant tasks. Breaking things down into smaller, bite sized chunks can help overcome disinclinations.
6. Be Responsible. Success is in your hands and is totally achievable. For example, it was ten years ago that I decided that I wanted to become a freelance web designer. So I decided that the best course of action would be to work for a web design agency, which I did for seven years. For the past three I’ve been working as a freelance web designer.
7. Draft an action plan. The actions in your plan should be clear, specific, measurable and realistic. For example, in the action plan that I drafted for myself I listed all of the skills and experiences that I wanted to gain while employed and I ticked these off, almost daily.

Following this advice will not guarantee success, but it will make a significant and positive contribution.

Search engine optimisation is a rewarding and growing industry so if you have an interest in online marketing this could make a good career choice.
