How To Get The Most Out Of Your Day

Big and small businesses alike are placing an emphasis on the ability of their employees to multi-task. If you’re a freelancer, you probably put yourself under the same pressure. You may even be having trouble sleeping because you’re always thinking about the things you have to get done. When you do fall asleep, you’re only awakened a few hours later by your annoying alarm clock. Sound familiar? Want to put an end to the craziness? Find out how.

The first step of regaining control over your work life is to get enough sleep. Sleeping a full 8 hours a night can sound pretty hard to do, especially when you can be doing so many things besides sleeping, right? Wrong. When you are sleep deprived you’re working at low capacity which means low energy, low productivity, and low creativity.

Going to sleep early may sound quite easy, but everyone who has too many things to do knows just how hard this can be. The temptation to keep working is huge. However, when you understand that you can get more done in less time when you are rested, you’ll probably appreciate the value of a good night’s rest much more.

So, once you wake up, do you rush to your home office to get things done? Well, you may have to change this. Doing something that requires discipline like riding your mongoose mountain bike before you start work can help you through the entire day. When you challenge yourself in the morning, you can look back on your accomplishment and think to yourself that if you can do that, there’s nothing you can’t accomplish. What a motivator!

After you’ve gotten off any one of your diamondback bikes, it’s time to eat a healthy breakfast. Don’t tempt yourself out of breakfast. If you sit down to work on an empty stomach, you’ll just be distracted and low on energy. Take the time to eat breakfast for an energy boost.

Spend time creating a list of exactly what needs to be done. You can do this before you start your work, or have it prepared from the night before. Find out which method works best for you. Reevaluate your task list. What definitely has to get done today, an article, a web design revision, the urge to satisfy a tattoo fever?

Once you’ve taken these important steps, its now time to settle into your work mentality. This may mean getting dressed for work, going into your work space and placing a do not disturb sign on the door of your work space. Get into the work zone with no distractions is an ultimate productivity booster.
