I’m sure you would have browsed the web million times and made remarks about on how good, like artistic site about painting, or bad the websites looked, such as technical-email info site on spam blockers . Although many of us have not really thought about it, each web site has a unique appearance especially if it is on foreign language for example with Japanese calligraphy. Two web sites are barely ever the same. There is a lot of skill that goes into each web page design.

Web page design requires the person to have a thorough knowledge about web languages such as Hypertext Markup Protocol (HTML), Extensible Markup Language (XML) etc. to be able to create the structured interfaces that we see. This type of web page design allows for text and images to be published on web sites. Additional components used in websites such as games and videos are usually programmed in Java – a popular computer language. Other types of software that are need when designing a web page are plug-ins. Adobe flash and Microsoft Silver are the forerunners of the browser plug ins that give us the opportunity to see the visuals on the web.

Interface designs are a major task in web designing. Interfaces have to be user friendly, so that non-technical viewer will not have problems when visiting the web site. The web page design also depends on what type of service the web site offers. In cases like email accounts and personal accounts which require the personal information of users; measures have to be taken to protect the data. In addition to passwords and other security features, the data has to be secures with encryption to prevent the data being access by unauthorized persons.

Special websites such as blogs and forums come in a uniform layouts. In each case, the site has to accommodate the uploading of content from users. The content; usually comments or replies, consist mainly of text. The scenario is different in social networks where the web design accommodates uploading of images etc, which is known as web 2.0 technology. It is important that the web page design is ideal for users to easily upload content. If the web page design made uploading content a complicated matter for users, the popularity of the social networking site would go down. So, web page design goes a long way in deciding the popularity of the web site.
