APC batteries: Why the brand name matters
With regards to the majority of industries and markets, brand name is not the most important thing to consider. When it comes to a product like an APC battery, however, brand name actually comes into play beyond mere bragging rights for being able to afford the big name item. Here we shall explain how and why important it is to buy from a strong brand name in the USP battery market.
For the vast majority of industries, the brand name just isn’t that important. If you were to have name brand flour and the supermarkets own brand, you wouldn’t really tell the difference. It’s just plain flower, it has the same ingredients whether you go with name brand or supermarket.
So why does brand name matter for an APC battery? In general, brand name is more or less a matter of status, so what makes APC batteries different?
Well, there’s a certain degree of craftsmanship that goes into creating an APC battery. Each company will make their batteries different, they will use different parts and also different methods. Not to mention, some companies are alot stricter than others, regarding manufacturing standards.
When you consider that APC batteries contain lead and acids, making sure that your battery is well built is not only an issue of getting your money’s worth, but also a safety concern. A battery that springs a leak can be a serious problem.
Secondly, why are the companies that are considered the top companies, considered the top companies in the first place. Generally, they have a reputation for being reliable and for outliving their warranties, and that’s why companies like Yuasa and CSB manage to hold such strong brand recognition in the industry.
Yuasa and CSB may not be the only APC battery manufacturers who can be expected to produce excellent, reliable products, but many retailers actually choose to carry these two brands exclusively for the simple fact that most customers demand Yuasa and CSB, and if you cannot provide them with their favorite brands, then they’re likely to simply start shopping elsewhere.
In certain industries, the most popular brand may not always be the best brand. For example, Apple computers are said to be the leaders in creating computers for multimedia, so they’re typically the go-to brand for anyone who works with photoshop or video editing. However, companies like Alienware, while focusing on gaming computers, have inadvertently created products that rival Macs on all levels when it comes to multimedia.
However, APC batteries are something of a niche market. Typically, the people buying these batteries know exactly what they are looking for, they have tried a number of brands, and have found Yuasa and CSB to be, almost invariably, amongst the most reliable in the industry.
In short: if you’re looking for a reliable replacement APC battery, it may be a good idea to go with Yuasa and CSB. Both of these companies have maintained a reputation for creating solid, reliable batteries, and for good reason.
